Entry: Lamenting for more TURKEY Thursday, December 01, 2005

Its hard to believe it was one week ago we were stuffing our faces around the Thanksgiving table! We had a lot to be thankful of this year! We drove to New Jersey on Tuesday night, kitty in tow! We only hit about 2 minutes of an ice storm in our rented Hyundai Accent!! Our car was PACKED full of laundry...and with the kitty we looked like we were moving in! Some highlites of the weekend were going to see Walk the Line...the new Johhny Cash movie..it was SOOO good...we also went to the great swamp to see an endangered bird exhibt...it was very cold but very fun walking through the swamp area...We saw an awesome bald eagle up close! What an amazing animal. We also saw a red tail hawk, a bunch of owls and some white snowy looking birds...it was a fun afternoon! I have always been sort of an animal activist when it comes to birds in cages..I mean, the glory of the bird is that it can fly...you know what I mean? But these were only there because they had a broken wing or something like that...Then they would be let go as soon as they are healed. And it really was a natural environment.I thought it was a little ironic we went to a bird exhibt the day before we ATE one all day long....oh the hypocrisy!Especially as we drove a way to the scene of a herd of wild turkeys on the front lawn...Little did they know they were being rehabilitated for next year's Thanksgiving dinner! Thanksgiving dinner was REALLY good this year...My sister accidently cooked the bird the day before thanksgiving in the plastic for 15 minuted in the oven not knowing it was in there...So we were a little afraid of what it might taste like...WELL Martha Stewart beware!! it was the best turkey i had ever had...I mean you really didn't even need to put gravy on it..who knows...maybe some of the plastic held in the juices or something...On Friday Scott and I went to have lunch with some of my friends from high school. Two of which were in our wedding..That was fun...Saturday my dad took Scott out in a couple of his cars...driving REALLY fast in old race cars was a little scary and fun for Scott...He really gets a kick out of it...Then Sunday we just relaxed...preparing for the long trip back on Monday! WALK OF SHAME...we had to take a LONG walk after Thanksgiving Dinner!!! Walk of Shame Belle Belle REALLY wanted some food from Scott...WHO Could say no to that face????
